In order to operate, the XnTcp interface needs to be initialized with the Firmware and the Webpages image downloaded from this Web site.
- Make sure that the computer is configured as explained in
PC
configuration;
- Make sure that the XnTcp interface is connected to the computer
and running (red LED blinking);
- Make sure that you can connect to the XnTcp with a Web Browser
as explained in HTTP
connection;
- Launch the Netloader program;
- Click on the Firmware & Webpages Update tag;
- Click on the Browse button near Firmware Hex File and
select the file XnTcpXXX.hex (where XXX is the release
number);
- Click on the Browse button near Webpage Image File and
select the file XnTcpXXX.img;
- Type into the Target IP Address or NetBios name field:
- The static IP Address of the XnTcp (default 10.1.0.1)
if the interface is connected to the Ethernet
port of the computer or to a LAN without DHCP; or
- The IP address assigned by DHCP to the XnTcp, if the
interface is connected to a LAN with DHCP:
- On Windows®, you can type the Netbios name (MXBOARD or XNTCP001)
in lieu of the IP address;
- On Mac OS®/X, copy the IP address from the address box of
the Web Browser (see HTTP connection);
- On Linux® and other Unix® flavors retrieve the IP
address with nmblookup (see HTTP connection);
- Type into the Target IP Address for Bootloader field the static
IP Address of the XnTcp (default 10.1.0.1).
Use
the static IP Address, also if the interface is connected
to a LAN with DHCP!
- Tick the Update EEPROM Configuration Data box;
- Tick the Reset Target Before Connecting box;
- Click on the Upload Webpages button;
- The program will request your user ID and password. Type in admin
and pw;
- Wait for the completion of the transfer;
- Click on the Connect button;
- The program will request your user ID and password. Type in admin
and pw;
- The XnTcp will be automatically restarted and, after a couple of
seconds, the Upgrade Firmware button will be enabled;
- Click on the Upgrade Firmware button;
- Wait for the completion of the transfer and for the restart of the
XnTcp (red LED blinking);
- Select File->Exit to quit Netloader saving its settings
(Do not use command-Q to quit on Mac OS®/X, otherwise Netloader settings
will not be saved).
- For troubleshooting consult the instructions available at the Modtronix
Web Site.
- If the XnTcp interface is connected to a LAN without DHCP,
configure it as explained in XnTcp settings and then restart it.
- If your computer is connected to a LAN or an ISP, you can now restore
its original TCP/IP settings.
