Hardware test
Before initializing the XnTcp interface, test the hardware and make sure that, at least, it powers up:
- Place the XnTcp interface on a clean non-conductive surface;
- If you are using an external power supply, plug it in, otherwise, connect the XnTcp interface to the Command Station and switch it on;
- Don't worry about the initial status of the red LED, it can light or remain off;
- After 5 seconds, the red LED should start blinking. If it doesn't, unplug immediately the power supply (or XpressNET) cable and check:
- The correct wiring of the power (or XpressNET) cable;
- The correct cabling of the prototyping board (in particular GND, Vin and Vcc connections).
- If the LED blinks and you are using an external power supply, connect the XnTcp interface also to the Command Station and switch it on;
- If the LED stops blinking, unplug immediately the XpressNET and power cables and check:
- The correct wiring of the XpressNET cable;
- The correct cabling of the prototyping board (in particular the connections with the RJ jack).
- If everything is working, let the interface on for some time and check that the temperatures of the XnTcp, the power supply (if any) and the Command Station do not rise above normal levels (the devices should warm up but not become hot and you should be able to touch them without burning your fingers!).
